Unit: 4
This was an online course and I learned about Mestizos and the birth of Mexican-Americans. The history of the Indios, hispanos, Mexicanos, gringos, and greasers, were very interesting for it's uncommon to read about the harsh history of the Mestizos and the Indians who were living in the Americas before Europeans "discovered" the land. Professor Andrade had me create and complete multiple analysis of the each chapter read, timelines of important events that occurred throughout the chapter, research projects of various topics within the chapter, and of course, class discussions. I enjoyed class discussions because I received different facts and new information about Mexicano history and receiving feedback from my peers helped me broaden my horizon on certain historical topics.
The textbook, Mexicanos, was very interesting. Events that I never heard of were written and expressed in great detail as well as learning some Spanish vocabulary. The history of Mexicanos includes people of central america, south america, Mexico, and New Mexico. The textbook fluidly correlated the tragedies and the revolutionary events of all these countries and how they entered the new world. They made an impact and a change in California, Arizona, Texas, all the states throughout America due to trade, war, and colonizing territory.
Professor Andrade was extremely kind and helpful during the course of Spanish 308. I personally, was not fully experienced with excel. However, Professor Andrade was very clear and helpful; he sat down with me and went over step by step, how to do the timeline assignments. His communication via email was great; he always responded quickly. I thoroughly enjoyed this online course I would suggest that others should take this particular course if they want to deepen there knowledge of Spanish culture.
Besides course readings, I had to create presentations of the chapters I read
